INTERSTATE 11 PROPOSALS TO BE PRESENTED THIS WEEK

KINGMAN - Residents interested in the proposed Interstate 11 that would link the Phoenix and Las Vegas metropolitan areas can attend a meeting at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Mohave County Public Works building's Turquoise Room.

According to the Arizona Department of Transportation, representatives from the transportation departments of Arizona and Nevada will be on hand to "discuss the range of alternatives under consideration for Interstate 11 and the Intermountain West Corridor Study and provide the results of the preliminary analysis."

While residents between Phoenix and Las Vegas are likely most interested in the regional impact, it's possible the corridor could ultimately extend south to Mexico and north to Canada.

Other meetings are scheduled in Phoenix on Tuesday; Tucson on Thursday; Carson City, Nev., on Oct. 16; and Las Vegas on Oct. 17.

Comments can be submitted at any of the meetings or online at www.i11study.com on the "Get Involved" page.

The study began in earnest in July and is expected to last two years with a focus on feasibility, benefits, opportunities and constraints.

A funding source has not been identified.

Friday’s report from the Commerce Department suggests that home building is maintaining it's recovery...
